This guide will show you how to perform a Source Only Install of KnowledgeTree 3.7 Community Edition on generic Windows and Unix-like operating systems.

Note Manual installations of KnowledgeTree Community Edition are not supported. We recommend that you use the KnowledgeTree Community Edition Stack Installer. The Community Edition stack installer installs PHP, MySQL, and Apache, and includes the external applications required for running KnowledgeTree Community Edition.

Prerequisites

Ensure that you have the correct version of PHP, MySQL and Apache installed and configured for the latest version of KnowledgeTree.

Installing KnowledgeTree

1. Download the KnowledgeTree Source Only package from the KnowledgeTree website. (Source Only Commercial Download)

Note: The source package is operating system independent.


2. Create the environment for installing KnowledgeTree Community Edition:

a) Move the KnowledgeTree folder to the directory where it is going to be served from:

$ mv knowledgeTree /<path to your webroot directory>

b) Configure your Web server to access KnowledgeTree Document Management System.


3. Ensure that the Apache, Lucene, and OpenOffice.org users have read and write access to the following directories:

  • <KnowledgeTree Source>/setup/wizard
  • <KnowledgeTree Source>/var
  • <KnowledgeTree Source>/Documents

Run Setup Wizard

KnowledgeTree is installed and you should now configure your system. If you chose to launch the KnowledgeTree Setup Wizard in the last step, it will open in your browser; alternatively, browse to http://127.0.0.1/knowledgetree to open the KnowledgeTree Setup Wizard.

The KnowledgeTree Setup Wizard will walk you through the process of configuring KnowledgeTree before using it.
