From KnowledgeTree Community
KnowledgeTree Office Add-in 1.1 is an update to the previous version of the KnowledgeTree Office Add-in for Microsoft Office 2007.
Release Date: December 2009
Overview
KnowledgeTree Office Add-in is a desktop tool for Microsoft Office 2007 that allows KnowledgeTree users to view and work with their organization's KnowledgeTree content from within Microsoft Office 2007 applications (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel).
KnowledgeTree Office Add-in provides an alternative, client-side interface to KnowledgeTree from within Microsoft Office 2007 applications. This client tool displays as a side panel within the Microsoft Office 2007 interface, and provides a view of your organization's Microsoft Office 2007 content that is stored in and managed through KnowledgeTree's web-based document management system.
What's New

- Ability to create, delete and rename folders from within the Microsoft Office Add-in
- New Professional translations added to our fully internationalized user interface. Spanish, Portuguese and Brazilian Portuguese are now available.
- New date, large text and multi-select document property fields can be changed from within the Office Add-in
- Select document format when saving to KnowledgeTree.

Known Issues
- Enabling Electronic Signatures in the API prevents connections to the KnowledgeTree server, from KnowledgeTree Tools and the new KnowledgeTree Office Add-in.
When no connection can be established to the KnowledgeTree server, KnowledgeTree Tools users and KnowledgeTree Office Add-in users will be unable to use any of the client-side features of the Tools or the Add-in, and they may receive unexpected errors. If you wish to use KnowledgeTree Tools or the KnowledgeTree Office Add-in for desktop integration with the KnowledgeTree server, ensure that the following setting is set to False through KnowledgeTree's web interface, in DMS Administration - System Configuration - Security Settings: Enable API Electronic Signatures. This setting enables and disables electronic signature functionality in the API and for all client tools.
- Older versions of Microsoft Internet Explorer 8 causes performance issues and high CPU usage
KnowledgeTree Office Add-in users have reported degraded performance and abnormally high CPU usage when using the add-in with older versions of Microsoft Internet Explorer 8 (e.g. Release Candidate 1). This issue was tested and confirmed on the following Microsoft Windows clients, with KnowledgeTree Office Add-in installed: Vista, XP (32-bit and 64-bit). It has been found that this issue does not occur with later versions of Microsoft Internet Explorer 8. If you are experiencing this issue, we recommend that you upgrade your version of Microsoft Internet Explorer 8.
- In Internet Explorer 6, when editing a KnowledgeTree document within Microsoft Office 2007 (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) through KnowledgeTree Office Add-in, then closing the Microsoft Office application, clicking 'Save' on the prompt does not save the document straight away. You need to close the Microsoft Office application a second time, and click 'Save' again in order to upload the edited document to KnowledgeTree. KOA-471
- In Internet Explorer 6, when saving a Microsoft Office 2007 Excel document to KnowledgeTree through KnowledgeTree Office Add-in, then attempting to edit the document title, Excel appears to lose focus – the cursor returns to the document body and it is not possible to complete the document title. This issue occurs intermittently, in Microsoft Office 2007 Excel, and only when using Internet Explorer 6. KOA-477
- When changing KnowledgeTree Office Add-In settings on the KnowledgeTree server, you need to log out of the KnowledgeTree Office Add-in; then, logon again, to refresh your settings. KOA-456
- When attempting to re-open the panel after closing a previous session, the KnowledgeTree button does not activate the panel on the first click. KOA-412
- A fatal error occurs when the Refresh button is repeatedly pressed. KOA-386
- When connecting to an https server (over SSL), the IE warning that appears is a non-modal window that does not display on the task bar, but prevents the operation of the KnowledgeTree Office Add-in until you have clicked either Yes, or No, on the dialog. Press Alt+Tab to locate the window.
