Installation and Upgrades

Pre-requisites:

  • KnowledgeTree Commercial Edition
  • Windows client machine
  • Microsoft .Net Framework version 2.0


How to Install KnowledgeTree Tools

  1. Run setup.exe to install application.
  2. Enter server details when prompted.


Known Issues and Workarounds

KnowledgeTree Open and Save buttons do not appear in Office.

Description:

Issue occurs after upgrade from 3.5.2x to 3.5.4 Tools.


Workaround:

  • 1) Close all Office Applications.
  • 2) Open KnowledgeTree Explorer and connect to your KnowledgeTree Server.

This step will correct any missing/damaged DLLs.


If the above process does not correct the issue, please do as follows:

  • 1) Close all Office applications.
  • 2) Uninstall KnowledgeTree Tools from Add/Remove programs
  • 3) Reintstall KnowledgeTree Tools 3.5.4 (Ensure that you run setup.exe)
  • 4) Restart you machine.


KnowledgeTree Menu in Office does not respond.

Description:

This issue may be the result of a corrupt default template (normal.dot).


Workaround:

  • 1) Close all Office applications.
  • 2) Uninstall KnowledgeTree Tools from Add/Remove programs
  • 3) Reintstall KnowledgeTree Tools 3.5.4 (Ensure that you run setup.exe)
  • 4) Restart you machine.


If this first workaround does not resolve the issue, please try the following

  • 1) Locate the following file:
Drive:\\Documents and Settings\<Your Windows Username>\Application Data\Microsoft\Templates\normal.dot
  • 2) Make a backup copy of the file.
  • 3) Delete the original.
  • 4) Restart your machine.


KnowledgeTree Open and Save buttons do not appear or disappears from Outlook

Description:

This issue occurs as a result of a conflict between the Word and Outlook.


Workaround:

  • 1) Restart Outlook.
  • 2) If this does not work, restart your machine.
