About the Plugins
Some functionality in KnowledgeTree is added through Plugins. Certain plugins are only available in KnowledgeTree Commercial Edition.
How is the Plugin functionality enabled?
Most Plugins are enabled by default, while others must be enabled after you have installed or upgraded your KnowledgeTree installation.
Bulk Export Plugin
This plugin enables the bulk export functionality in the system. Only administrative users are allowed to perform bulk exports, which involves downloading the entire contents of a folder in one zipped file. The zipped file is saved to the user's computer and may be opened locally for viewing.
Client Tools Plugin
Conditional Metadata Plugin
This plugin enables the use of Conditional Fieldsets. A Conditional Fieldset has two or more Lookup fields ordered hierarchically, where the user-selected values in the first field determines the values that display in the second field, which in turn determines the values displayed in the third field, and so on. For example, select 'Book' in the first field; then choose from 'fiction' and 'non-fiction' in the second field.
Core Language Support
This plugin provides translation capability for the KnowledgeTree system.
The KnowledgeTree community has developed a number of language packs for the system, which may be downloaded at the [KnowledgeTree Forge http://forge.knowledgetree.com]

Custom Numbering
This plugin enables custom document numbering in KnowledgeTree Commercial Editions. Custom numbering allows the KnowledgeTree administrator to define the format and content of the numbering scheme used for KnowledgeTree Document IDs. One custom numbering scheme may be defined for each of document type in the system.
Disclaimers Plugin
This plugin allows customization of the Disclaimer text that displays on the Login page, and as Footer text throughout the system.
Document Alerts
This plugin allows you to set up an alert on a document that notifies relevant users when action is required on the document. When adding the alert, you may add a message outlining the action required, add recipients, and select a date to trigger the alert. When the Alert is triggered, KnowledgeTree sends an email, and posts a dashboard notice, to each user added to the alert.
Document Comparison Plugin
This plugin allows users to compare content and metadata versions of a currently selected document in the Browse Documents module of KnowledgeTree's web interface. The Document Comparison feature displays a list of past content versions, and past metadata versions, of a currently selected document, and allows the user to compare these versions.
Document Discussions Plugin
This plugin enables the document discussions function. Discussion threads are a low level collaboration tool that provides a forum for users to share their ideas on a document. Using this feature, you can add new, view, modify, or close discussion threads on a currently selected document.

Document Jump Dashlet
This plugin allows Dashboard dashlets to move. Users drag and drop dashlets to another onscreen location on the Dashboard.
Document Thumbnails
This plugin displays a thumbnail preview of a selected document on the Document Details page, and in the folder view, for the following file types: OpenXML, Microsoft Office 97-2003, OpenDocument, pdf, png, jpg, bmp, gif. The following file types may also be supported: AI Postscript, Postscript, TIFF

Email Plugin
This plugin enables the Email document action, which allows users to send a currently selected document, by email, from within the system, to one or more KnowledgeTree groups or users.
Extended Transaction Information
This plugin allows the generation of user activity reports, based on the system's ongoing tracking of document and folder transactions performed in the DMS. Enabling this feature allows an administrative user to view a list of transactions for a specific user, or for all system users, filtered by transaction type and by date range. The results returned are permissions-based in that the requesting user only receives information for documents and folders that they have at least view permissions in the DMS.

This plugin enables the system search functionality by allowing the indexing of document context.
Housekeeper Plugin
This plugin enables System Folder Utilization, Storage Utilization, and the diagnostic dashlet that displays only appears when there is an issue with your Lucene OpenOffice.
Immutable Action Plugin
This plugin enables the 'make immutable' document action. Invoking this action on a document prevents any non-administrative users from making further content changes to the document. The document may also not be moved or deleted.
Inline View of Documents
This plugin activates the ability to view inline images of documents, of the following file types, that have been uploaded to the repository: png, jpg, gif, tif, xml, html, and txt.
Instant View
This plugin allows you to view a flash-based preview of a selected document, of the following file types, within the Browse view, through KnowledgeTree's web interface: OpenXML, Microsoft Office 97-2003, OpenDocument, pdf, png, jpg, bmp, gif. The following file types may also be supported: ai, postscript, tiff
Inter-document Linking
This plugin enables the Links document action. Document links allow users to associate two or more documents in the repository. The KnowledgeTree administrator pre-defines the Document Link Types that are used to link documents.
LDAP Authentication Plugin
This plugin is activated to allow the import of users (from LDAP and AD Servers) to KnowledgeTree, and to authenticate imported users when they log in to the DMS.
Office Add-in Plugin
Orphaned Folders Plugin
This plugin allows users to reach folders that are in restricted areas of the DMS. The user may not have the required 'read' permission to browse the folder structure to go to the orphan folder, although they have permissions on that folder. Clicking on a link to the folder in the Orphaned Folders dashlet on the KnowledgeTree dashlet takes the user straight to the orphan folder, and hides all higher level folders in the folder hierarchy.

PDF Generator Plugin
This plugin enables a PDF conversion feature for documents of the following file types, in the Browse Documents module: doc, ods, odt, ott, txt, rtf, sxw, stw, xml, pdb, psw, ods, ots, sxc, stc, dif, dbf, xls, xlt, slk, csv, pxl, odp, otp, sxi, sti, ppt, pot, sxd, odg, otg, std, asc You must have a PDF Reader installed in order to view the converted PDF file.
Professional Reporting
This plugin provides additional user activity reporting functionality to KnowledgeTree Commercial users. Report information includes:
- last login information by user for a predefined period
- login activity by user for a predefined period
- full login history for one or more users
Property Preview Plugin
This plugin adds a Property Preview icon to the columns in the Browse View. Clicking the icon for a selected document displays the document properties (metadata) in a pop up Property Preview panel.
Quicklinks Plugin
This plugin allows users to create direct links to documents and folders in the repository. User defined quicklinks are listed in the Quicklinks dashlet on the Dashboard.
RSS Plugin
This plugin enables RSS functionality from within KnowledgeTree, allowing users to subscribe to RSS Feeds on external content (on the Internet), and on internal content (documents in the DMS), and to view RSS feeds through an RSS Feeds dashlet on the KnowledgeTree dashboard. KnowledgeTree RSS uses http authentication, and you need to ensure that your RSS reader is RSS 2.0 compatible.
Shortcuts
Subscription Plugin
Enabling this plugin activates the Subscriptions feature in the system. Subscribing to a folder allows you to receive notifications when changes are made to documents in the folder, or to the folder itself.
Tag Cloud Plugin
This plugin enables the use of Tags and the Tag Cloud dashlet on the Dashboard. The Tag Cloud dashlet displays unique tags added by KnowledgeTree users in the organization. Clicking on a tag in the Tag Cloud dashlet returns a permissions-based list of all content that is associated with the currently selected Tag.
Top Downloads for the last Week
This plugin adds a Top Downloads dashlet to the KnowledgeTree Dashboard, providing direct links to the documents that were most frequently downloaded for viewing in the repository over the previous 7 days. This dashlet displays only those items for which the currently logged in user has at least view permissions.
User History
This plugin enables the Recently Viewed Documents dashlet on the KnowledgeTree web interface Dashboard.
WebDAV Dashlet Plugin
This plugin displays a WebDAV dashlet on the KnowledgeTree Dashboard, with instructions for connecting to the WebDAV server.
Windows Tools: Key Management
This plugin provides access to the KTIS Administration section in KnowledgeTree's DMS Administration module. KTIS Administration is the system's license key management page, where administrative users add new keys, remove keys, and view key expiry information.
Workflow allocation by document type
This plugin provides the ability to assign a predefined workflow to all documents of a specified type.
Workflow allocation by location
This plugin provides the ability to assign a predefined workflow to all documents in a specified folder.
Workflow Association Plugin
This plugin provides the ability to associate a predefined workflow with a specific document type, or with a specific folder. To use this feature, click Automatic Workflow Assignments in the Document Metadata and Workflow Configuration section of the DMS Administration module.
