Setup Wizard Guide

The KnowledgeTree Setup Wizard will walk you through the process of configuring KnowledgeTree so that it is ready to use.
To launch the Setup Wizard, open your web browser and navigate to http://127.0.0.1/KnowledgeTree.
1. On Welcome to the KnowledgeTree Setup Wizard, click Next.
2. On License Agreement, read the license agreement and click I Agree to accept the terms.
3. On Installation Type, select the default option and click Next.
4. On Checking PHP Dependencies, the setup wizard will scan your system for information about your PHP version, extensions and configuration.
You can click the Show Details link beneath each heading to view detailed results of the scan.
Click Next.
5. On System Configuration, review the settings for your server, paths, and permissions.
If you need to modify these settings, click Edit and make the changes.
Click Confirm.
6. On Checking Service Dependencies, setup determines whether you can run KnowledgeTree background services.
Click Next.
7. On Confirming Database Configurations, enter the details required to connect to your KnowledgeTree server and click Next.
Note: On Windows the default password is blank.
8. Setup will automatically configure your database settings. If the displayed settings are incorrect, click Edit to correct them, otherwise.
Click Confirm to continue.
9. On Finalizing System Installation, leave the checkbox selected if you would like to help improve KnowledgeTree by providing anonymous usage statistics.
Click Install to complete the installation.
10. The installation is complete. You can review your configuration settings by clicking the Show Details link for each category.
Click the Twitter button to follow us or the Facebook button to become a fan.
Click Finish.
11. The login page appears. You can return to this page to start using KnowledgeTree, but first you need to start the KnowledgeTree background services.
On Windows:
Click Start - All Programs - KnowledgeTree - Services - Install Services.
Click Start - All Programs - KnowledgeTree - Services - Start Services.
Note: On later versions of Windows (Windows 7, Vista and 2008) you would need to be logged in as an administrator to install and start the KnowledgeTree background services. If you aren't logged in as an administrator, follow the links above and instead of left clicking the final steps (Install Services and Start Services), right click them and choose Run as Administrator.
On Linux:
Run the start-up script:
KnowledgeTree Commercial Edition -
$ sudo /usr/share/knowledgetree/dmsctl.sh start
KnowledgeTree Community Edition -
$ sudo /usr/share/knowledgetree/dmsctl.sh start
